There are actually very few rules regarding tallit — the sky is the limit in terms of design. You can choose something traditional, with or without embroidery, beading, quilted or stripes, in silk, cotton, batiks, or blends. As is tradition, we do not mix wool and linen. Your atarah, or crown, around the neckline of your tallis, can be the traditional blessing for putting on the tallis, or a special verse or thought that has meaning to you. Ideas for themes: one’s Bar/Mat Mitzvah parshah, Shabbat, Israel, a favorite Torah story, a hobby, the seasons, a family tree — the possibilities are limited only by your imagination. If you are in the D.C. area, I can teach you to tie the tzitzit, or fringes, on your tallis. If desired, I can also make a tallis bag and kippah to match your tallis. Be sure to visit Tallis Stories to learn the details behind the work I’ve done... |

Price will vary with materials and labor, but will be established before work begins. Subsequent changes to the design may affect final price. |
